Brandleit Boutique Chalet in Hart, ZIllertal Alps, Tirol, Austria

Chilled Gingham Recluse

Inside a natural honeyed identity of original farmhouse gestures; thick hewn beams, gabled ceilings, planked flooring and the nooks and crannies of heritage have been left wonderfully exposed

Intro

Wonderfully humble, Brandleit in Zillertal Austria is an authentic farmstead hideaway dating back to 1885 and comes with the mandatory choc-box appeal of a rural Alpine chalet besieged by the hushed rhythms of lush green pastures, ancient forests and hum of the mountain waters.

Timeless in essence, Brandleit has stood on this spot presiding over the hillsides for generations, its fairy-tale-like chunky preserved timbered walls cocoon the remit of rustic house interiors. As you would expect from an aged chalet lodge – scented woods in every denomination cuddle the house. Wholesome in nature, Brandleit’s interior is luxuriously simple with a style narrative that captures the essence of boutique farmhouse living in the Austrian Alps; country-house stalwarts including ginghams, loden felts, linens, original oven heating and blue ‘Heidi’ style painted furnishings accentuate the Alpinist soul. In contrast, modern pastel tones, funky sofa chairs in sorbet pinks, lemons and vert velvets add contemporary notes to the palette of the mountain lodge lifestyle.

A luxury family refuge detached from the hectic world in picture-perfect idyll Hart, Zillertal - Brandleit is a charismatic boutique chalet where holidays in the great outdoors become memorable for generations to come, something the house has been doing for hundreds of years already. With wilderness and the mountains on the doorstep, Brandleit lets you seamlessly slip into the slow lane with ease, adopting the warmth that comes from being at a friend’s cabin.

The kitchen has been the heart of Brandleit for generations (you can glean family recipes from grandma’s cookbook) and as such is still a great place to gather. A mix of modernity and originality, there is everything you need to hand to self-cater.

Equally, you can gather in the Zillertal Farmhouse Parlour – a great hub for the clan or spend time out on the huge covered terrace, set up the barbeque and plug your tunes into the sound system.

The covered terrace is the perfect place for yoga and quiet meditation overlooking the Zillertal mountains. There is also a spacious Finnish sauna with panoramic viewing windows of the mountain peaks, jump out in the winter and roll in the snow for the ultimate ‘wild’ buzz.

Location

Brandleit Chalet is in absolute seclusion in the sunshine valley of Hart in Zillertal – a favourite Austrian mountain retreat, famed for its quiet and idyllic nature.

Owners

Brandleit Chalet has been in the Gschößer family for four generations, making this more than just a holiday let. The family are deeply connected to the region and as such are patrons of supporting local producers and preserving a way of life found in Zillertal.

Today, owners and hosts, Silvia Gschößer and Markus Rist renovated Brandleit with carefully selected materials and made it a unique retreat and recreational place for visitors.

“Brandleit has always been a magical place for me. I do not know what fascinates me most. I associate Brandleit with wonderful childhood memories. As a family we spent many busy but at the same time wonderful and carefree hours there. And then the memories of my grandfather Peter, who spent so much time in Brandleit. Now I finally understand why he never got bored all those years without television and internet.”
