The 15 heritage-styled lodges foster a casual design blueprint and are setup to accommodate for two-to-five people in each, styled with wooden rafters, cuddle corners, traditional oven-heating, little kitchenettes and outdoor terraces.

Like the rest of the hotel, Alpine charm shines brightly in every corner, creating truly comfortable and restful spaces to relax post-mountain. Full of tactile fabrics – soft-to-the-touch sheepskin rugs, plump cushions and cosy throws plus candles, joyful ceramics and luscious bathtubs, these spaces are soul reviving. 

Slow Food philosophy at the Borgo Eibn is intentionally at the top of their farm-to-table agenda with recipes handed down through the generations – these are the true foragers of the Friulian ingredients which spark new editions of time-honoured dishes which are reinterpreted with a pinch of culinary imagination. Being the farming proprietors of their own organic produce, Borgo Eibn delivers honest plates of regional down-to-earth tastes with dishes being accompanied by a careful selection of the best wines from the Friulian and Italian vineyards. 

What the restaurant conjures up on your plate is an ode to the essence of the Carnic Alps, their aromas, their fruits and their wild, untouched beauty from the breakfast table to dinner around the traditional Fogolâr fireplace. During the warmer summer months, guest can opt to dine al fresco out on the gorgeous panoramic terrace in front of the magnificent mountain scenery – foodie deliciousness, vistas included, what’s not to get excited about?

The Borgo Eibn spa captures the healing karma of the Alps with a wellness reset button geared for fast-track regeneration. In the Lodge Spa, the well-being zones have been thoughtfully engineered against a holistic canvas of ancient forest woods that hug you – sit back and let the dulcet tones of a crackling fireplace or the gentle trickle of mountain waters soothe away mother hectic.

Indoor pool, Finnish sauna, hay bio sauna, Turkish bath and the igloo with aroma showers stimulate the senses – after which opt for a massage or wind-down in the lovely farmhouse chill lounge and step outdoors to the best viewing theatre of the Alps and Lake Sauris.

Borgo Eibn Mountain Lodge sits on an elevated hillside, a few metres from the centre of Sauris village life and reservoir Lake Sauris. 

Ski-to-door Borgo Eibn is located in the Carnic Alps (Sciovia Sauris di Sotto Platter & Richelan Platter) close to the peaceful rural village of Sauris (Zahre). This is the province of Udine: a peaceful pocket within the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The cities of Bolzano South Tyrol to the far west and Villach over in the east of neighbouring Austria.

Owners Viola and Rocco never wanted to create anything ordinary and have a voracious hunger to inspire and share their love of this setting, which is gorgeously infectious. The Borgo Eibn is an unequivocal testament to their creative passion for ancient traditions, the environment, rural culture, farming and natural well-being; full of passion and love for what they do and for this very special place that gives them both: roots and wings.
