The gateway to the Bernese Oberland, Thun is an attractive historic riverfront town that dates back to the 12th century. Sandwiched between the mountains and Lake Thun (Thunersee) with the river Aare skirting the old town, Thun is naturally picturesque and close to neighbour Interlaken. The scene is dramatic – snow-capped Alps a yonder with the turreted medieval landmark castle of Schloss Thun pleasingly dominating the skyline. Meander through the cobbled streets of Swiss aged townhouses, galleries, fabulous food, both traditional & cool eateries and a surprisingly buzzing scene which spill over to the lakeside venues.
Thun is loved by the sporting fraternity too including great winter ski at Lake Thun (Thunersee) with 39 kilometres of slopes and 11 ski lifts. In the summer months hit the mountain bike rides with 35 routes. Cute, aged and a beaut, the Swiss town of Thun is an all-year destination that is cool – it is the hotspot to watch in Switzerland’s canton of Bern and is just ever-so Instagrammable.
A bijou design hotel laced in a plush hipness of crushed velvets, soft linens, aged oak beams and lovely quirky accessories – a dash of peacock blue, gold, burgundy and teal usher a signature of urban cool to this
120-year-old dairy warehouse.
