Copenhagen has long been a certified cool cat on the world foodie stage, yet it is Vesterboro’s pioneering ANKER Chocolade (with a Michelin-experienced chef at the helm) that demands a big space on your chocolate to-do list.
Copenhagen’s reputation as a city of foodie wonders includes some serious Michelin-starred names, from Noma, to the only Thai restaurant to earn a Michelin star out of Thailand, Kiin Kiin, to classic Søllerød Kro. And it just so happens that the man behind ANKER Chocolade, Mikkel Anker, has worked as a chef in the latter two. Good to know.
Bringing his Michelin taste-buds to the chocolate scene, ANKER Chocolade’s ethos is all about changing up what ‘normal’ chocolate should be. Using the best raw materials on the market and creating flavour combinations that include Danish apples, browned butter and vanilla with white chocolate; cream caramel, pink pepper and dark chocolate; and nougat, salted hazelnuts and black sesame with milk chocolate.
Working exclusively with fair trade ingredients and sustainable packaging, this is another (delicious) example of Copenhagen pioneering in the foodie scene, and should you fancy a 10-minute cycle along the canal to ANKER’s live kitchen and have an in-house taste test post-breakfast… we won’t judge you.
