Highland Reverie: The Curated Events Calendar at Dun Aluinn

A new calendar of curated happenings has landed at Dun Aluinn – our design-led Highland hideaway in Aberfeldy – and it’s rewriting the script on slow luxury and immersive experience. Think wild swims, woodland saunas, elemental gastronomy, yoga with a prima ballerina and the kind of soulful wellbeing that reconnects you to the land, your senses and the stories of Scotland.

Partnering with some remarkable personalities who share a deep reverence for the wild, the poetic and the purposeful, Dun Aluinn Eventing brings together tailored three-night stays that are as nourishing as they are rare. These aren’t just retreats – they’re a new kind of Highland gathering.

The House | Dun Aluinn

Dun Aluinn is no ordinary backdrop. A bold, modernist take on Highland living, this exclusive-use residence is perched above Aberfeldy with cinematic views of the Tay Valley. Its interiors are a masterclass in understated luxury – where smoked oak, velvet textures and plate-glass windows wrap guests in warmth and style.

Outside, it’s all elemental grandeur – a wood-fired hot tub nestled in the trees, fire pits for storytelling under stars, and 5.5 acres of private grounds that flow into the Highland wilds. With 9 ensuite bedrooms, elegant communal spaces and a dedicated private chef, the house becomes both sanctuary and stage – the grounding point from which each curated event unfolds.

Wild Swimming & Fine Dining | 7–10 July

A cool rush of river meets the heat of a handmade woodland sauna in this unforgettable Highland encounter hosted by Calum Maclean and Steven Hanton.

Calum – wild swimmer, Gaelic speaker and cultural storyteller – is quite literally swimming the length of the River Tay. He’ll guide guests to secret spots around Aberfeldy and Glen Lyon, weaving in folklore, Gaelic insight and spine-tingling scenery.

Alongside him, bushcraft authority Steven Hanton (think firelighting, foraging, expedition skills) leads hands-on workshops in wilderness know-how. Together, they build a sauna out of natural materials, while Dun Aluinn’s Head Chef John Christie fires up open-flame feasts made with Highland provenance and serious culinary flair.
