Naturhotel Forsthofgut's new Garden Loft Suites

One of Europe's best spa and wellness hotels has added three 140 m² Garden Loft Suites overlooking the Leogang Mountains and the eco hotel's new 1,500 m² organic bathing lake. The suites place dramatic nature centre stage, framing soaring snow-capped peaks, forested slopes and wild meadows. In keeping with Naturhotel Forsthofgut's sustainability philosophy, local architect Andreas Hallinger of Markand design studios was commissioned for both the construction and the interior design.

The new five-star suites come fitted with the latest technologies and predominantly organic building materials. Energy-efficient throughout, they take their architectural cue from the vicinity, each carrying the rural pitched roofline of the surrounding farmsteads. Sourcing indigenous materials that support local crafts and travel the shortest possible distance was central to the design of the eco suites. Natural woods headline the interiors, as they have in the Alps for centuries, chosen not only for their abundance and sustainability but for their holistic qualities.

Architect Andreas Hallinger's three new five-star suites at Naturhotel Forsthofgut: organic materials, pitched Alpine rooflines and picture windows over the Leogang Mountains and organic bathing lake.

Inside, the ecology continues with ash-wood floors, woollen rugs, and walls finished in breathable clay. Chemical-free paints and finishes are borrowed from the Leogang mountains, soft greys, chalked whites and sapling browns, giving the suites a modernist take on Alpine styling. Each loft is spread over two floors and fronted by picture-length windows that frame the peaks. Upstairs, local carpenters have worked the interiors in rough-sawn silver fir that cocoons the space. Contemporary furnishings and lighting wrap around a suspended Gyrofocus wood-burning fireplace, the suspended steel model designed by Dominique Imbert for the family-owned French maker Focus.

Each suite adds a spacious private sauna and a 56 m² loggia overlooking the lake. Downstairs, the master bedroom holds a freestanding Corian bathtub set squarely before the mountain view, a dressing area and an oversized king-size box-spring bed.

With the Garden Loft Suites, Naturhotel Forsthofgut continues its journey of sustainable luxury and organic wellness, rooted in the nature of Leogang.
