Rooms

Whether you’re a city slicker coming to Salzburg for your bright lights fix or a family holing up for a holiday, Arthotel Blaue Gans’ rooms cover the spectrum of homey needs, comfort and style. Small, Regular or Medium rooms come with the trappings of Salzburg’s past with wooden-beamed ceilings, plus neat living and bedroom areas while bathrooms nod to the now with wraparound white tiles.

Next level are the suites, with architectural charm flooding in from stuccoed ceilings, vaulted nooks and use of timber. Our fave is the Suite City Flat – a spacious wonder that separates bedroom from living with a modern metal sliding door which contrast beautifully with the old baroque doors and the aged marble flooring. Pops of petrol blue and canary yellow come from the stylish pieces of velvet Wittman furniture, perfectly placed and an ideal marker of this hotel’s effortless merging of old and new.

Small

If it's just for one night... the "Small" double rooms may be just the ticket. Measuring a compact 20 m², they are functionally furnished and a reasonably priced alternative when space is not an issue.

Regular

If the Blaue Gans was a standard hotel with standard rooms, these would be the "Regulars". Every room in our Boutique Hotel is different, boasting its own unique charms.

Blaue Gans has grown over the centuries, so no one room is exactly like another.

Medium

Like all rooms at the artHOTEL, the "Medium" double rooms each have their own characteristic style. They are more spacious than the "Regular" rooms and offer considerably greater comfort.

Large

Anywhere else, the "Large" rooms would be called Junior Suites - but we happen to think they're pretty grown-up. In addition to a certain spaciousness, each one has its own inimitable architectural charm. Some have stuccoed ceilings, some have timber, others are vaulted, still others are located just under the roof. Each and every "Large" is one of a kind.

Spanning 80 m², the City Flat is the epitome of Salzburg comfort - perfect for a longer stay or for families. Bedroom and living room are equipped with Wittmann furniture and separated from each other by a spectacular glass / metal construction. In the suite are wonderful baroque doors and in the entrance area old marble floor. There is also an anteroom with a cloakroom, an extra room with a sofa bed for 2 more people facing the courtyard, a bathroom with a shower and 2 hand basins, a separate toilet, a fully equipped kitchenette with stylish Stillsegler tableware and a dining area.

The 115 m² Maisonette Suite offers space across two floors. The bedroom gets its remarkable character from the historic roof structure - enjoy a snug night's sleep beneath its wonderful timbers. On the lower floor is the living room, which also features a pull-out couch for another two people, and a small kitchen with a dining table. Complete with free-standing shower and bathtub as well as a separate WC, the bathroom is comfortably spacious. The changing room evokes the glamour of an artist's dressing room, whilst the old wooden flooring adds warmth and cosiness. Of course, the suite is equipped with a flat-screen TV, DVD player, stereo system, air conditioning and minibar. A small flight of stairs leads from the passage to the Suite. The furnishings are supplied by Salzburg Interior Design Shop WERKSCHAU.

Seek your inner child at Salzburg’s Toy Museum

Pablo Picasso famously said that we are all born artists, the only trick is remaining an artist as we grow up. Somewhat along the same lines are those self-helpers who say that we are all born children, the trick is learning to stay in touch with that child as we grow up. Actually, it’s pretty much the same thing, isn’t it?

Modern Art Walk - Salzburg

We have to admit, we're a bit art obsessed. We recently found ourselves rushing into a city on a 2-hour layover just to scurry through their contemporary art museum before breathlessly re-presenting ourselves at the airport.
