The manifesto of Art by Mum is: Art is Life & Life is Art. The duality of this becomes even more pertinent when you consider that this creative studio comes from a mother-and-daughter duo.

Ursula and Stephanie Slomski both create large-format paintings that capture their even larger-than-life love of art. Through their platform, they encourage others to appreciate art of all forms, and to explore a boundless world of creativity.

Stephanie, the daughter, is a passionate artist, interior designer and design strategist. Through her studies at the Trier University of Applied Sciences in her home country of Germany and abroad at the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain, she learnt from renowned professors, including Professor Gerhard Freising (architect), Professor Clas Klaus Steinmann (artist) and Dr. Giulia Calabretta (author of the bestselling book Strategic Design). Her varied studies helped her develop creative potential – all while finding a unique artistic voice.

Stephanie’s love of exploring is also reflected in her works of art – especially her painterly inflexions of time spent in Mallorca, Germany, and France. As a result, her contemporary paintings have an unmistakable liveliness. They are of the world.

On the other hand, Ursula is a trained tailor who loves to design and develop new ideas. Her artworks have an emotional core, filled with a harmonious colour palette and daring textural contrasts. Abstract and aesthetically appealing, they are part of her creative vision to inspire and uplift others.

At times working together and apart, Ursula and Stephanie see their art as an expression of courage, passion and limitless creativity. Their art is a language through which they translate their experiences of the world to others. As with their symbiotic motto: Art is Life & Life is Art.
