McNutt of Donegal collaborates with Breac House

We love it when collaborations of local talent come together to produce quality craft that is underpinned by shared values of passion, heritage and creativity.  A partnership we thoroughly approve of takes place between headland hideaway and modern retreat Breac.House and McNutt of Donegal - weavers since 1953.  Here is an axis and meeting point between curated Irish craft with a forward-facing boutique bed and breakfast.

From here, amutual acknowledgement of each others work took place and Catherine, one half of Breac.House’s owners sought out McNutt to create a new product. This was a sauna towel, to accompany guests into the off-grid wood-fired sauna. Incidentally, said sauna-for-two was recently featured in Wallpaper magazine. 

William and Catherine worked together on this new range and with colour input from Catherine, and McNutt consultation on materials including the advice to use eco-friendly linen, the sauna towels were created to great success.

For Breac.House, who often use local craftsman and materials including Donegal tweed and Irish wool, the decision to use McNutt’s was a simple one. Formally using wool on handlooms, McNutt’s has evolved over the years to produce Irish linen, fabric and accessories including wool blankets, throws and scarfs with a large international market.

For guests, the merging of local makers is seamless. Spend your days taking in the wild and windswept beaches, surfing the white-crested Atlantic or simply watching the weather rolling in through floor-to-ceiling windows in the cosy comfort of Breac.House.
