What do we look for in the objects in our home? Function and good design, mostly. But what if you could have both, plus playful originality?
If you like whimsy in your home, hotel or public space, then look to Qeeboo, a Milan-based brand who produce design objects with narrative, made by a team of international designers who have a unique and pronounced sense of visual storytelling. With an innovative take on the way in which we use everyday objects, Qeeboo’s designs allow free interpretation of their function – perhaps an object might be flexible and multi-use – seats can be tables, a lamp doubles up as a vase or a plant pot becomes a wine cooler.
Founded by interior, industrial designer and architect Stefano Giovannoni, who worked with big-name brands such as Pepsi, Fiat, Samsung and Sodastream, Stefano sought a world away from populist design and instead craved a renewed concept. The result was what Queeboo define as ‘creations that aim to awaken emotions and positive feelings.’
By using industrial design as a starting point, an iconic Qeeboo object adds not only identity to the home but allows us to feel good about our surroundings. One of the most appealing sides to this brand is the way in which its objects spark joy and bring a smile as seen in the lofty giraffe that holds a chandelier in its mouth, a smooth LED rabbit lamp that makes a comfortable seat (designed by Stefano himself) and a ballet-pink chair with a back in the shape of a dinky bow.
With an assembly supply chain 100% focused in Italy and a surprisingly affordable range of lamps, tables, plant pots and lighting, there’s no reason why we can’t all bring a little fun into our homes.
