If you want to discover a more bohemian Mallorca (Majorca) then Pollença – approximately 40kms north of Palma de Mallorca, has to be up there as one of the island’s picturesque corners situated at the at the foot of the Tramantuna mountain range in the north of the island. Sandwiched between the Mediterranean and a green carpet of farmlands, vineyards and citrus groves, the heritage town of Pollença is the rural capital of Mallorquin lifestyle close to Cap de Formentor, Cala San Vincente and Alcúdia – the Port de Pollença being just a short drive away. 

Favourite hub to creatives, writers and artists over the centuries, Pollença (Pollensa) is peppered with historic buildings, gorgeous villas, aged narrow streets, galleries, stylish boutiques, cafes, wine bars and foodie pit stops. 

Highlights of Pollença include the Plaça Major – the square where simply everyone meets up at some point to the hum of constant chatter and host to the famous Sunday market and architectural stunners like the El Pont Roma. A must do - saunter up the 365 steps to the hilltop El Calvari monastery – the view towards the town and surrounding farmlands is well worth it.
