As well as being clasped by the majestic beauty of the Bavarian Alps, Kulturhof Stanggaß has a new string to its bow: a Michelin star, thanks to the culinary diligence and skill of chef Zsolt Fodor and his dedicated team.
Already benefitting from its position in the Berchtesgaden region, Kulturhof’s jewel in the crown is its Michelin star, an accolade that rewards this mountainside bolthole of smooth timbered architecture with the highest foodie endorsement for its tasting menus from fine dining restaurant Solo Du, which takes inspiration from the region’s wild meadows, lakes and farmlands.
Enjoying a meal here means trying traditional flavours, presented in a creative but unpretentious form.
Dishes on the tasting menu from the culinary genius of Zsolt Fodor are finely tuned to the seasons and may include egg and wild asparagus foam with caviar, lamb with lavender and rhubarb or char sashimi, finishing with strawberries and curd cheese, honey and chervil followed by petit fours. Sommelier Martin Bielik is on hand to help with your choices, or you can feel confident with the wine pairing which showcases appellations from Germany, Hungary and Spain among other wines for all tastes.
Born in Hungary, chef Zsolt Fodor brings a European outlook to the seasonal food offering at Kulturhof Stanggaß, having completed training in his birthplace of Hungary before exploring the gastronomic capitals, picking up experience and inspiration. Settling in at Kulturhof Stanggaß, Fodor slotted in nicely to the hotel’s ethic of ‘togetherness’, before applying his culinary art to the kitchen, with great success.
Fodor, however, remains modest and humble about his newly acquired and swiftly achieved Michelin star, saying, "It is a particular pleasure for me to have cooked up a Michelin star in such a short time," emphasising that "the honour goes to the entire kitchen and team of the Kulturhof Stanggaß and we will receive the award and accept the challenge of always doing our best to delight locals and hotel guests with delicious food and beautiful moments”.
